The operations registered in the stock market accumulated up to October a value of G. 39.7 trillion (around USD 5,258 million) and already exceeded the amount with which the year 2023 had closed.
Trading again reported a year-over-year increase to over 40%, after slowing to 20% in September. However, the pace is not enough to reverse the 15.1% drop accumulated by the primary market.
Trading on the Asunción Stock Exchange (BVA) reached a total of G. 39.7 trillion up to October 2024 (around USD 5,258 million), which is already 7% higher than the record of G. 37 trillion set at the end of 2023.
These figures were obtained after a rebound in the pace of growth in negotiations, which in October registered an expansion of 44.2% compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling G. 4.8 trillion (or USD 614 million).
In September, the year-on-year rate of increase in operations was only 20% and in August, 32.7%, after having reached levels of up to 100% in April and 46% in July.

If the average rate of transactions of around USD 500 million per month that has been set throughout 2024 is maintained, this year would end with a total volume of around USD 6.5 billion in the stock market.

When analyzing the behavior of stock market operations by market, it stands out that the secondary market is driving the aforementioned accumulated growth of the Stock Exchange in general, with an expansion of 51.2% compared to what was registered during the first ten months of 2023; while the primary market still drags a drop of 15.1% in the same period.
Specifically, in October, operations in the secondary market totaled G. 4.4 trillion and accounted for 92.7% of the month's total negotiations, with an increase of 44.1%. The primary market expanded at a similar pace of 45.1%, but between February and June had reported negative variations of up to 78%.
In the tenth month of the year, the financial sector concentrated almost 70% of the amounts in bonds issued in guaraníes, for G. 194,000 million; as well as 37.5% of the issuance of shares, for G. 12,000 million.
Other sectors that offered new securities on the Asunción Stock Exchange last month were agriculture and agribusiness, green industry, chemical industry, marketing of household appliances and electrical materials, and shopping centers.

As for the currencies in which transactions are carried out, the guarani maintains an important presence, with 61% of the amounts traded in October 2024, while the dollar accounted for the remaining 39%.
For their part, bonds continue to be the most traded instruments, with a concentration of 95.8% in the amounts recorded in October, compared to 3.7% represented by equities and 0.47% by mutual funds.
